The 300R comes with a 30-litre grass box that will suffice for a well-kept lawn of 250m². The 340R has a 35-litre box allowing you to keep going for up to 300m² before you need to empty it. And the 380R 45-litre box gives you enough space to collect the grass clippings from a 375m² lawn. The Flymo EasiMow 340R is a nifty, lightweight little lawn mower that has seriously impressed me. It’s not a mower that’s got the most features and cutting functions in the world, but it’s got more than enough to deliver a fantastic cut. For example, a rear roller and cut to edge which adds that little extra something to make your lawn stand out from the rest.

All grass boxes have a robust handle that you can use to lift it from the rear of the machine when it becomes full. The handle also acts as a hook, so that the box can hang from the handlebar when in storage. A close edge cutting system allows a neat cut right up to edges of the lawn or flowerbeds, reducing the need for trimming afterwards; and a rear roller provides a beautiful striped finish to your lawn meaning its always looking its best.The 300R has a series of spacers that the operator must insert or remove from between the blade and the motor, to change the cutting height. And this also limits the 300R’s height choices to 3, with 20mm between each. Again giving you a choice of the same lowest and highest cutting heights from 20mm to 60mm. Cutting Diameter Having the option of charging the next set of batteries while you are using the mower will open up more options for continued use. However, if you do think you may need extra batteries before you buy the mower, it might work out cheaper just to buy a bigger machine. How does it rate? What’s more, you get a decent choice of cutting heights, from 1.5 to 4.3cm, and with a 38cm cutting width it won’t take too long to get your lawn done. With a flat lawn and a modicum of puff, you can also achieve great results. Get the sharp, five-bladed cylinder moving and you’ll be surprised how efficiently it cuts, and there’s even a rear roller for a striped effect. In fact, there’s a sort of genial pleasure in hearing the whir of the blades and watching the grass in the collector pile up. Manual mowers aren’t for everyone or every lawn, but they’re brilliant for day-to-day cutting in a smaller garden – and this one’s built to last. With the Flymo EasiMow 340R, you get a 35 litre grass box. That’s just about spot on for a mower of this size so no complaints there. This is a plastic grass box though so do keep in mind that it might be harder to store than a fabric one.

The Flymo Easistore 340R Li, I feel, is far better suited to taking a few millimetres off the lawn on a regular basis, rather than heavy duty mowing. Mowing shorter grass will also give you a much longer run time from the battery as the motor will not be working as hard. If you like a striped lawn then a roller is an essential feature of a lawn mower and this has not been omitted on this Flymo EasiStore 340R. The rear roller can be used to create that neat striped design that is so widely favoured by lawn enthusiasts the world over.
